The Oral Cavity
The oral cavity contains the structure we call the mouth, which contains our teeth, tongue, salivary glands, and uvula. The food begins here, where the food is masticated by the incisors and then moved back to the molars to finish up by grinding the food. The saliva is produced to aid in breaking down the food and the tongue is used for taste as well as moving the food around in the mouth.
